FAQ
Questions institutions ask us.
Plain answers about how HECID works, where data lives and what it takes to deploy.
General
What is HECID?
HECID is self-hosted identity infrastructure built in Cameroon by Hekate Systems. It reads ID documents, checks liveness, matches the selfie to the document photo, routes each case to a human reviewer and records every step in a tamper-evident audit ledger.
Who is HECID for?
Regulated institutions that must know who their customers or citizens are: banks and microfinance institutions, telecom operators and mobile-money providers, and public agencies.
Is HECID available in French?
Yes. The website, the capture apps and the review console are designed for French and English.
Data and privacy
Where is identity data stored?
On your own servers. HECID is installed inside your infrastructure, so document images, selfies and results never pass through a third-party cloud.
Does Hekate Systems see our customers' data?
No. Unless you explicitly configure an external service, no personal data is sent to Hekate Systems or any sub-processor.
How long is data kept?
For the period your own policy sets, typically aligned with your KYC record-keeping obligations. HECID supports access and erasure requests.
Verification and review
What checks does HECID run?
It reads and validates the document's machine-readable zone, tests that the person is live and present, and compares the selfie with the document photo.
Which documents are supported?
Passports and ID cards that carry a machine-readable zone (MRZ), including the Cameroonian biometric national ID card.
Can HECID approve someone automatically?
No. Automated checks produce evidence; a second, MFA-authenticated reviewer approves or rejects each case before it is marked verified.
How accurate are the biometric checks?
Accuracy depends on cameras, lighting and population. Biometric checks are measured and approved for each deployment before they are used, and a human reviewer always decides.
Integration
How do we integrate HECID?
Customers capture their document and selfie in the HECID web or Android app, or in your own app through the REST API. Your systems sign in with OpenID Connect and receive the result and evidence package.
Which sign-in standards are supported?
OpenID Connect with authorization code and PKCE. Reviewers sign in with multi-factor authentication.
Deployment and pricing
What infrastructure do we need?
Linux servers in your data centre or a national cloud. We provide an installation package and work with your team during setup.
How is HECID priced?
Pricing depends on your deployment size and support needs. Contact us for a briefing and a quote.
